Role Summary
This Health & Safety Manager position will shape the company’s Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies, ensuring best practice compliance and leadership alignment. Key responsibilities include:
- Directing HSE strategy, setting measurable targets
- Ensuring legal compliance and a proactive safety culture
- Guiding the leadership team on incident reporting and legal obligations
- Overseeing risk assessments, fire safety, and estate operations
- Driving process improvements and embedding lessons learnt
- Representing the company externally via industry groups and enforcing authorities
Responsibilities
Strategic HSE & Compliance
- Define, implement, and monitor Airband’s HSE controls across all operations, including fibre/wireless network deployment and customer connections.
- Act as Process Owner for system compliance (forms, audits).
- Update and share best practices, lessons learnt, and industry initiatives.
- Chair HSE forums and meetings to align priorities.
- Proactively review HSE performance metrics, submitting monthly/annual reports and annual awards (e.g. RoSPA, BSC).

Regulatory & External Representation
- Monitor UK legislation changes to maintain compliance and best practices.
- Represent Airband on client bodies, industry groups, and regulatory panels.
- Foster relationships with enforcing authorities.
Behavioral Safety & Support
- Conduct planned risk assessments and NAWHA/WAH equipment evaluations (harnesses, PPE).
- Use IAuditor/H&S Salesforce platforms for records and audits.
- Assess mast, tower, monopole structural integrity.
- Coordinate fire safety audits, servicing, and risk assessments.
Incident Reporting & Investigations
- Investigate accidents/incidents, recording findings.
Training & Operational Support
-_train line managers, drive training needs analysis.
- Develop fire safety policies and action plans.
- Conduct regular walkarounds, applying risk mitigation strategies.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent).
- SMSTS certificate.
- Working at height (WAH) qualification.
- IPAF qualification.
- Five years’ minimum HSE management experience in telecoms/related sector.
- Full UK driving licence.
- *Technical deep-dive credentials: LOLER (Lifting Operations), PPE certification.
Desirable
- Experience in H&S training delivery.
Overall Requirements
- Right to work in the UK.
- Clear references.
- May need a DBS check or driving licence (field-specific).
Note: Applicants must satisfy DBS requirements for operational roles.
