Objectives And Responsibilities

The purpose of the role is to coordinate, support and advise the business on all aspects of Health, Safety, Quality and Environment across the TfL Maintenance contract, establishing, managing and monitoring standards, processes, communications, training and systems to ensure full compliance with statutory and contractual responsibilities. The role is also accountable for driving continuous improvement in health and safety performance across stations, depots and operational environments, whilst ensuring the effective implementation of health and safety policies and promoting a strong, positive safety culture throughout the workforce.

Operational Health and Safety Support

  • Provide expert advice and guidance to operational management to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Support implementation and review of H&S policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory obligations.
  • Assist in development of H&S management systems.
  • Support development and review of RAMS and COSHH assessments.

Monitoring, Inspections and Assurance

  • Conduct site inspections and audits.
  • Monitor compliance and identify improvements.
  • Analyse H&S data and produce reports.
  • Track corrective actions.

Incident Reporting and Investigation Support

  • Ensure incidents are reported and investigated.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Monitor effectiveness of controls.
  • Guide teams on reporting processes.

Stakeholder and Team Engagement

  • Engage operational teams to promote safety culture.
  • Deliver training including IOSH.
  • Support inductions and competency programmes.
  • Chair safety meetings.
  • Coordinate with Senior night H&S advisor

  • Follow Group and Company policies and procedures at all times.
  • Report any apparent deficiencies in systems-of-work or equipment provided that may result in failure of service delivery or risk to health and safety or the environment.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation.
  • Promote safe systems of work.
  • Report hazards.
  • Ensure correct use of PPE.

Information Security

  • Follow information security policies.
  • Ensure secure handling of data.
  • Maintain confidentiality.

Competencies

  • NEBOSH Certificate and TechIOSH.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Investigation experience.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads.
  • Flexible working.
  • Full UK driving licence.

  • Experience in similar role.

  • Training delivery experience.
  • IT literate.
