About The Role

This role is responsible for providing expert health and safety advice, guidance, and support across all College activities. Acting as a central point of contact for occupational and vocational health and safety matters, the postholder will work closely with the Director of Estates to address health and safety concerns, respond to queries, and promote a safe and compliant working and learning environment.

As the College operates across multiple sites, the role encompasses responsibility for supporting health and safety arrangements in all buildings and locations where the College has a presence. The postholder will work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation to ensure consistent standards, compliance with relevant legislation, and the effective implementation of health and safety policies and procedures across the College estate.

This role is term time only, working 36 weeks per year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out and record general day-to-day health and safety checks and inspections.
  • Be a central point for advice and guidance on health and safety issues, supporting curriculum and business support staff accordingly.
  • Carry out regular workplace inspections of vocational departments, collating reports and action plans, and following up on timely completion of remedials recommended.
  • Updating risk assessments and COSHH registers, with relevant departments, to ensure they are current and fit for purpose.
  • Reviewing risk assessments on an annual basis, and creating new risk assessments for one off events and activities.
  • Checking comprehensiveness of risk assessments produced by others for trips, off-site and on-site activities.
  • Support the Director of Estates with providing training sessions and inductions to new and existing staff.
  • Reviewing and updating the College Health and Safety policy, in conjunction with the Director of Estates, to ensure that the contents remain current and inclusive of any legislative amendments.
  • Liaising with other managers to promote good health and safety practice and prevention.
  • Co-ordinating and monitoring fire drills in all buildings, and sites, on a termly basis, recording evacuation times and any issues experienced, ensuring they are closed out timely.
  • Supporting the Director of Estates with completion of PEEPS and individual health risk assessments for staff and students, where requested.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
