Programme Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor – East West Rail
Our East West Rail team in St. Neots, Cambridgeshire, is seeking a Programme Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor to join us. You’ll support the entire East West Rail route, spanning Oxford, Milton Keynes, Bedford, and Cambridge.
Location
- St. Neots, Cambridgeshire, with regular on-site travel throughout the route
- Some remote working permitted
Hours
- Permanent full-time (45 hours/week)
- Some flexibility available on working hours (please discuss at interview)
What Will You Be Responsible For?
As a Programme Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor, you’ll help uphold the highest safety and wellbeing standards across a major infrastructure programme.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular site and office evaluations, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance and encourage a culture of continuous improvement
- Coach and mentor operational teams and supply chain partners on Health & Safety best practices
- Lead and support incident investigations, ensuring proper corrective action is implemented
- Review, assess, and approve:
- Construction Phase Plans
- Risk assessments
- Method statements
- Analyse safety performance data and contribute to monthly reports to inform proactive improvements

What Are We Looking For?
This role would suit professionals who meet the following criteria:
- Professional recognition in Health & Safety:
- Holding (or working towards) a Diploma in Health & Safety
- IOSH [Institution of Occupational Safety and Health] membership is highly preferred
- Expertise in legal standards:
- In-depth knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
- Familiarity with ISO standards (ISO 45001, etc.)
- Relevant industry experience, ideally within large-scale infrastructure or construction programmes
- Strong ability to:
- Break down targets and drive results independently
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with teams
- Full valid driving licence (necessary for site travel)
