Health Technology Assessment Analyst
# HTA Analyst
This role is ideal for individuals with a strong background in evidence-based practice, experience in analysing and interpreting complex data, alongside a solid understanding of health technology assessment (HTA), including the principles of:
- Cost-effectiveness
- Evidence-based healthcare
- Critical appraisal
- Evidence synthesis
About the Role
As an HTA Analyst, you will:
- Develop and ensure quality assurance of NICE’s technology appraisal guidance
- Provide technical oversight and lead assessment of clinical and cost-effectiveness for pharmaceuticals
- Collaborate with external stakeholders, including:
- Academic groups
- Industry
- Patient organisations
- NICE committees
- Write high-quality, robust and transparent technology appraisal guidance to ensure impactful decisions
- Contribute to developing new methods and technical practices, working with colleagues across the organisation

Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership in Appraisals
As the technical lead on technology appraisals and highly specialised technology evaluations, you will:
- Apply HTA expertise to support evidence-based decision-making
- Lead the scoping of assessments and evaluations
- Critically appraise clinical and cost-effectiveness evidence, including judging whether:
- Health economic modelling meets standards
- All relevant considerations are included
- Prepare clear and accessible presentations for committees, including:
- Collating complex findings
- Ensuring evidence is synthesised and communicated effectively
- Advise multidisciplinary committees on evidence interpretation
Collaboration & Delivery
- Work independently while fostering close collaboration with peers
- Mentor less experienced staff
- Contribute to improving health and care outcomes through evidence-based guidance
Team & Organisation
You’ll join NICE’s Medicines Evaluation programme, where Topic Delivery Teams develop guidance, including:
- Technology appraisals
- Highly specialised technologies

- 1 Associate Director
- 5–7 HTA analysts
- 3–4 HTA Advisers
- 1 Principle Technical Adviser
- 1 Project Manager
- 1 Assistant Project Manager
- 1 Administrator
The programme publishes 90–100 pieces of medicines guidance annually.
Location & Flexibility
This role can be based in Manchester or London, with hybrid working options.
