Health Visitor – Band 7 (Permanent)
Location: Uist and Barra, Western Isles Salary: £52,845 - £61,466 per annum plus Distant Islands Allowance (£1,461 per annum) Hours: 36 Contract: Permanent

About Uist and Barra Live and work in a vibrant, scenic archipelago with endless outdoor leisure opportunities, cultural events, and traditional crafts. Travel connections to the mainland are available via air and ferry.
As a Band 7 Health Visitor, you will support Uist and Barra by:
- Delivering a high-quality, inclusive, and culturally sensitive Health Visiting service in the community.
- Partnering with service users, care providers, and agencies to safeguard children and families.
- Assessing child health needs, planning interventions, and maintaining up-to-date records.
- Leading child welfare and safeguarding discussions, including child protection meetings.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
- Provide home-based community health visiting for children and families across Uist and Barra.
- Conduct welfare checks, risk assessments, and wellbeing meetings, submitting reports in advance.
- Monitor child development, promote preventive care, and respond to early warning signs.
- Ensure timely escalation of child protection concerns in line with safeguarding policies.

Management & Accountability
- Oversee and be accountable for managing your own caseload.
- Exhibit strong problem-solving, initiative, and self-directed professional decision-making.
- Demonstrate collaboration and teamwork with multi-disciplinary partners.
Administrative Tasks
- Maintain accurate records, including child health files and data entries.
- Accurately update and submit required documentation (e.g., assessments, plans, meeting minutes).
Personnel Requirements
- Must be a NMC-registered Health Visitor with a postgraduate qualification in Health Visiting.
- Proven commitment to continuous professional development and innovation in practice.
- Must be licensed to drive in the UK (own vehicle mandatory).
Working Environment
- Island-based role with 36-hour weekly hours.

Challenges & Expectations
- Must hold a full UK driving licence and operate your own vehicle for travel across the islands.
