Role Overview
Job Title: Healthcare Assistant Location: Highbank AC, Bury, Greater Manchester Salary: £13.45 per hour (Full-time, 37.5 hours per week)
Priory Highbank Centre is recruiting a Healthcare Assistant to join our neuro-rehabilitative care team. Based in Bury, Greater Manchester, our service provides specialist residential support for adults with acquired brain injuries (ABI), progressive neurological conditions (PNC), and complex physical health requirements. This includes care tailored for those with tracheostomies, mechanical ventilation needs, or post-neurosurgical intervention.
Our residents benefit from personalised neurorehabilitation, addressing conditions such as:
- Acquired brain injuries
- Traumatic brain injuries
- Post-neurosurgeries (e.g., reconstruction/removal of brain tumours etc.)
- Neuromuscular conditions (including neuromuscular disease)
- Spinal cord injuries
- Multi-focal brain injuries
- Strokes
Key Responsibilities
This is a compassionate, dynamic role focused on fostering recovery and confidence. You’ll be a core member of our team, assisting with:
Care Support & Wellbeing
- Implement individualised care plans in collaboration with qualified clinical staff
- Provide one-on-one support for personal care, daily living activities, and targeted rehabilitation programmes
- Assist residents in life enrichment activities, tailored to their abilities and goals

Administrative & Collaborative Tasks
- Maintain accurate records including:
- Personalised support/care plans
- Medical charts
- Daily progress notes/resident observations
- Act as a mentor to less experienced colleagues, sharing best practices
- Work closely with multidisciplinary clinicians (nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists) in delivering care according to bespoke treatment schedules
Professional Conduct & Engagement
- Uphold confidentiality and professional boundaries while building trusting relationships with residents, their families, visitors, and staff
- Communicate openly with teams during handover meetings, therapy sessions, or in-case reviews
Requirements
Essential
- Empathy and emotional resilience for a high-impact yet rewarding role
- Basic to intermediate experience providing nursing/personal care to individuals with diverse needs, including mobility/dementia support
- Clear communication skills (both verbal and written) for reporting shifts and liaising with teams

- Copy of a UK driving license (valid for ≥ 3 years), to help arrange recreational outings/transport for residents
