Support Worker – Ballington House, Leek, Staffordshire

Are you a naturally caring and experienced Support Worker in the UK looking to make a fulfilling difference in someone’s life?

At Ballington House in Leek, we’re seeking compassionate professionals to support our inclusive team in delivering outstanding mental healthcare.


About the Role

You’ll be part of a team dedicated to empowering individuals with complex mental health conditions, actively supporting them through each phase of their recovery journey.

A dynamic mix of daily tasks includes:

  • Engaging with service users in ongoing conversations and interactions
  • Supporting individuals in daily living tasks and community involvement
  • Striving towards treatment and recovery goals alongside multidisciplinary support
  • Documenting progress, updating records, and supporting incidents as required
  • Offering drive and personality to mealtimes, housekeeping, and maintaining a safe, welcoming environment

This role carries emotional weight and challenges, requiring empathy, resilience, and a proactive determination. Yet seeing the impact of your work—knowing you’ve enabled incremental steps towards a more fulfilled life—is undeniably rewarding in itself.

Shift Pattern: 12.5 hours/day, 3-4 days/week, including nights and weekends (~37.5 hours/week).

Where You’ll Be Working

Ballington House is a 13-bedded mental health rehabilitation hospital in Leek, Staffordshire (ST13 5LW), specialising in supporting women with complex mental health needs across three key phases:

  1. Assessment phase (accepting help)
  2. Rehabilitation phase (believing, trying, and learning)
  3. Community phase-out (self-reliance)

The pathways evolve through controlled progression across the hospital’s three levels, supporting service users from admission through independent recovery.

As a member of Ballington House’s multidisciplinary team, you’ll collaborate closely with psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, nurses, occupational therapists, and support staff to create individualised recovery plans.
