Are you an experienced Health Care Support Worker with strong phlebotomy skills looking to make a real impact on one of the UK's largest health research programmes?
We're looking for motivated and compassionate healthcare professionals to join a nationwide service delivering participant-focused care across fixed and mobile clinic locations throughout Scotland.
About the Role
As a Health Care Support Worker (HCSW), you'll play a vital role in delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality participant appointments while supporting an innovative national health research programme aimed at improving the prevention, detection, and treatment of major health conditions.
You'll work closely with the clinical team to ensure an outstanding participant experience while maintaining the highest clinical and governance standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct participant assessments, including:
- Blood pressure
- Pulse
- Height and weight
- Waist measurement
- Venous blood sampling (phlebotomy)
- Accurately record clinical observations and maintain high-quality data.
- Monitor participant wellbeing and escalate concerns appropriately.
- Prepare and package blood samples for courier collection.
- Support participant flow to ensure an efficient clinic service.
- Provide administrative and operational support where required.
- Maintain high standards of infection prevention, quality, and clinical governance.
- Report incidents and contribute to audits, service improvements, and quality initiatives.

Essential
- Minimum 12 months' phlebotomy experience with validated venepuncture competency.
- Experience working within an outpatient or similar clinical setting.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) trained (ILS/ALS desirable).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong understanding of clinical governance, infection prevention, risk management, and incident reporting.
- Adaptable, proactive, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Team player with a participant-centred approach.
Desirable
- Flexibility to travel between clinic locations.
- First Aid qualification.
- Experience supporting or mentoring colleagues.
- Experience contributing to service improvement initiatives.
