Role Description

The Healthcare Assistant role at Starry Care is a contract, on-site position based in Sittingbourne. The Healthcare Assistant will support individuals with daily living activities, including personal care, mobility assistance, and basic hygiene needs, while promoting dignity and independence. Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring and recording patient conditions, assisting with nutrition and hydration, and supporting safe medication practices under appropriate guidance. The role also involves maintaining a clean and safe environment, following health and safety procedures, and communicating effectively with clients, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality, person-centered care.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong patient care skills, including personal care, mobility support, and monitoring of wellbeing.
  • Candidates should possess manual handling skills and safe moving and handling techniques in line with care standards.
  • Candidates should possess medicine-related skills, such as understanding basic medication support procedures and adhering to guidelines under supervision.
  • Candidates should possess health & safety awareness, including infection control, risk assessment, and safe working practices.
  • Candidates should possess interpersonal skills, including clear communication, empathy, and the ability to build trust with clients and colleagues.
  • Relevant care qualifications or certifications (e.g., NVQ/QCF in Health and Social Care or equivalent) are beneficial.
  • Prior experience in a care, support worker, or healthcare assistant role is preferred but not essential if willing to learn.
  • Ability to follow care plans, work as part of a multidisciplinary team, and maintain accurate records is advantageous.
