Healthcare Assistant – Outpatients Bournemouth Hospital
Nursing | Bank | Part Time | Up to £15 per hour depending on experience
Range of shifts covering Monday to Friday 8am to 9pm, Saturdays 8am to 4pm

As a Healthcare Assistant in Outpatients at our Bournemouth Hospital, you’ll bring relevant experience, a keen eye for detail and a flexible approach. You demonstrate patience, focus and excellent communication skills. A real team player, you have the diligence, IT literacy and passion for development and training to make a difference.
This role will be based primarily in Outpatients. Duties include phlebotomy, specimen taking, ECG, basic clinical observations, chaperoning and assisting in clinics and minor procedures. This will be combined with collecting medical records and preparing paperwork for patient's admission and supporting other members of the team.
Responsibilities
The successful candidates will have at least NVQ 2 or 3, and will have experience of working in an acute hospital setting. They will be able to work independently, have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be IT literate. Phlebotomy experience would be an advantage although is not essential as training can be given to the right person.

As a Healthcare Assistant in Outpatients, you will:
- Assist colleagues in Orthopaedics, Gynaecology, Neurosurgery, Plastics Surgery, ENT, Cardiology, GP Services, Psychiatry and Physiotherapy
- Enjoy more time to care for patients as individuals
- Manage a wide range of activities and changing priorities
- Make sure the day-to-day operations of our various clinics run smoothly
- Assist consultants and nurses with procedures, such as dressings and wound care
- Carry out pre-assessment, both face-to-face and over the phone
