About The Role
Healthcare Assistant – Full Time (37.5 hrs/week) HMP Lindholme, Yorkshire

As a Healthcare Assistant with the Primary Care Team at HMP Lindholme—a Category C/D male prison near Hatfield Woodhouse—you’ll deliver outstanding care in a dynamic setting where every day is an opportunity to learn, grow, and have a meaningful impact.
Hours & Salary
- Full-time commitment: 37.5 hours per week
- Salaried from £22,700 to £29,723 per year (depending on experience)

Key Responsibilities
As a Healthcare Assistant within the Primary Care, Mental Health and Substance Misuse teams, your role will span care delivery, administration, and collaboration:
- Provide exceptional patient-centred care in both healthcare departments and prison wings
- Assist with clinical processes, including:
- Conducting blood tests (phlebotomy)
- Ensuring accurate observations & vital sign checks
- Performing 12-lead ECGs
- Supporting NHS Health Checks
- Help develop and deliver personalised care packages for patients
- Support the nursing team in all care provision tasks
- Act as second-checker in pharmacy when required
- Provide welcome и triage support for new patients on reception
Your role extends across Primary Care, Mental Health and Substance Misuse, ensuring broad exposure to the needs of individuals in secure care settings.

** Requirements & Ideal Candidate**
Essential Qualities
- Compassionate & non-judgemental: Ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds

Preferred Experience & Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care, or completion of a Care Certificate (advantageous)
- Desirable: Previous clinical experience:
- Phlebotomy (venepuncture)
- Performing ECGs
- Strong desire to work in secure environments and a passion for healthcare development
Essential Criteria
- Legal right to work in the UK
- Ability to successfully pass enhanced DBS checks
- Willingness to undergo additional security screening (due to prison environment)
