Description

Priory Hospital Woodbourne is looking to recruit a Healthcare Assistant to join the team. This is a full-time role of 37.5 hours a week.

Set in the leafy suburb of Edgbaston, just a short distance from Birmingham City Centre, Priory Hospital Woodbourne provides a welcoming and well-connected working environment within beautifully maintained grounds. With excellent access to the West Midlands motorway network and strong local public transport links, the site is easily accessible for commuters. Our diverse and specialised range of services offers colleagues the opportunity to develop their skills and gain experience working with a wide spectrum of mental health conditions across five distinct service lines within the hospital.

What you'll be doing

  • You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients' wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. You will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity, and treatment of patients.
  • Assists qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed to facilitate the wellbeing, dignity, and treatment of all patients.
  • Provides practical support and responsive care to patients who require assistance with intimate personal needs such as dressing, bathing, and toileting activities, ensuring that such activities comply with procedures and the relevant healthcare legislation.
  • Observes and monitors the wellbeing of patients, ensuring that any unusual physical, mental, or emotional occurrences are promptly referred to senior staff/the primary nurse and documented as appropriate.

What you'll bring to the role

Our work is rewarding but can be challenging, so resilience is key. No two days are the same! Your natural empathy will help you support others through both the highs and lows.

The ideal candidate will be educated to a minimum of NVQ Level 1 or hold GCSEs in Mathematics and English. They will possess a strong understanding of the importance of maintaining strict confidentiality at all times and demonstrate basic IT literacy, enabling them to effectively use workplace systems and technology in support of their role.
