Fairmile Grange – An Allega Care Home, Christchurch
Fairmile Grange is seeking warm, compassionate Healthcare Assistants to join our dedicated team at our beautiful care home in Christchurch.
This is a night-time role, including alternate weekends, offering flexible working patterns to support a healthy work-life balance.
About The Role
As a Healthcare Assistant, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, person-centred care to our residents. Working alongside Senior Healthcare Assistants and Registered Nurses, you will provide practical, physical, emotional, and social support with dignity and respect.
You will help ensure each resident’s individual needs and preferences are met, while maintaining clear communication with families and healthcare professionals.
Whether you are experienced or new to care, we provide full training and ongoing development opportunities to support your career progression.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high standards of personal care, including washing, oral care, toileting, mobility, and manual handling
- Support residents with a wide range of needs, from companionship to complex care
- Assist with daily wellbeing activities, hobbies, and social events
- Maintain accurate care records, including fluid and dietary charts
- Monitor and report any changes or concerns to nursing staff
- Support residents’ nutritional needs, including assistance with eating and drinking
- Help maintain skin integrity and report any concerns
- Accompany residents to appointments where required
- Communicate effectively with families, colleagues, and healthcare professionals
- Support and mentor new team members during induction and training
About You
- Caring, compassionate, and positive approach
- Strong communication skills
- Flexible and reliable, including working alternate weekends
- Available to work 1–3 shifts per week (12-hour shifts)
- Previous care experience is desirable but not essential
