Role Description
This full-time, on-site Healthcare Assistant role is based in Cambridge and involves supporting patients and residents with personal care, mobility, and daily living activities. The Healthcare Assistant will help with washing, dressing, toileting, eating, and drinking, while promoting dignity, independence, and comfort. The role includes observing and recording changes in patients’ conditions, reporting concerns to senior staff or nurses, and assisting with basic clinical tasks under supervision. The Healthcare Assistant will work closely with multidisciplinary teams in nursing homes and hospital settings to maintain safe, clean environments and follow care plans. The position may involve working shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and public holidays to ensure continuous care.

Qualifications

- Strong patient care skills, including compassionate support, attention to individual needs, and respect for dignity and independence.
- Good interpersonal skills to communicate clearly and professionally with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Competence in manual handling techniques and safe use of mobility aids, following training and organizational procedures.
- Basic understanding of medicine administration processes and accurate reporting to qualified nurses, within scope of practice.
- Knowledge of health & safety practices, infection control, and safeguarding standards in health and social care settings.
- Previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant or in a care environment is highly beneficial.
- Relevant care-related training or certifications (e.g., Care Certificate, NVQ/QCF in Health and Social Care) are an advantage.
- Ability to work flexibly across different shifts, maintain reliability, and follow policies and care plans.
