About The Role

HMP Lancaster Farms - Healthcare Assistant (Part Time)

Salary - £15,334.20 - £17,833.80 per annum

Hours - 22.5 hours per week

Our team is expanding, and we are looking for a Healthcare Assistant to join the team at HMP Lancaster Farms on a part time basis. This is a rewarding opportunity to work within primary care, while gaining exposure to a wider multi‑disciplinary team in a unique and supportive healthcare environment.

Healthcare Assistants play a vital role in delivering safe, effective care and supporting each patient’s health journey.

What You’ll Be Doing

You will support a range of clinical and operational activities, including:

Running and supporting healthcare clinics (bloods, observations, ECGs, NHS Health Checks) Working in reception (Early Days in Custody), carrying out basic health assessments and blood‑borne virus screening Supporting health promotion and wellbeing initiatives Acting as pharmacy second checker and assisting with medication rounds Working collaboratively with nurses, GPs, and wider healthcare professionals

What We’re Looking For

This is a clinical role, so it is essential that you have experience in at least some of the following: Bloods (phlebotomy/venepuncture), ECGs, NEWS2, Health Checks, Physical Observations (obs), Wound Care etc Experience of working within a clinical setting, such as a hospital (A&E would be a bonus) or a prison / secure setting Care Certificate and/or NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care A resilient, proactive, and enthusiastic approach to patient care Ability to work effectively in a secure and fast‑paced environment

About HMP Lancaster Farms

HMP Lancaster Farms is a busy Category C male prison, currently holding around 550 males, and expanding by another 200.

Practice Plus Group provides primary care and substance misuse services across the wings, clinic areas, inpatient facilities, and reception services.

Working Pattern

This position is part time working 22.5 hours per week and does require flexibility. You will work various shifts between the following days / hours:

Monday - Thursday - 7:30am - 7:30pm

Friday - 7:30am - 6pm

Saturday & Sunday - 8am - 5:30pm
