As a healthcare and impartial benefits assessor, you’ll play a vital role in:
- Undertaking clinical reviews for PIP (Personal Independence Payment) referrals
- Providing objective advice to case managers on complaints and enquiries (from customers, welfare groups, MPs, and DWP)
- Gathering outcomes and feedback on complaints concerning healthcare professionals, helping shape clinical improved and overall business enhancements

Role: WCA Nurse Assessor
Location: Durham (Hybrid) Working Pattern: Monday–Friday (09:00–17:00) Contract: Full-time Salary: £39,500 per year (Minimum salary £23,700 if working less than full-time)

Your Day-to-Day Impact
You will carefully assess how disabilities, health conditions, or chronic diseases affect a person’s daily life and make objective recommendations to optimise support. Through your clinical acumen, empathy, and thorough assessments, you empower individuals to regain control and move forward with dignity.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead clinical reviews and assess claims related to DA (Disability Allowance), PIP (Personal Independence Payment), AET, and Universal Credit Work Capability Assessments.
- Engage personally with claimants to deepen understanding of their circumstances through direct consultations.
- Conduct detailed clinical assessments on complex cases involving physical and mental health conditions, pain management, and chronic diseases.
- Deliver expert complaint resolutions and objective feedback, ensuring alignment with implicit legislative frameworks.
- Partner with case managers, oversight teams, and DWP, providing timely, evidence-based decision support.
- Contribute to business improvements by tapping into direct and indirect engagement with claimants and colleagues.
- Stay aligned with current assessment practices, fraud prevention, and regulatory standards at home and abroad.

Formal Requirements

| Drawing from Practical Experience | 1+ year of post-registration adult Mental Health or general adult nursing within or outside NHS, demonstrating expertise. |

| English Language & Reporting | Excellent oral and written communication (e.g., summarising interviews, drafting detailed claim reports). |
| Technical Competency | Fluent in office software for accurate data entry, documentation, and report submission. |
