Healthcare Science Assistant – ECG & Arrhythmia Monitoring Role

Role Overview

The cardiology department at UHNM delivers diagnostic testing for both inpatients and outpatients across Royal Stoke Hospital and County Hospital, including:

  • Exercise tolerance testing
  • Head-up tilt table testing
  • Echocardiography
  • Pacemaker implants and follow-ups
  • Haemodynamic monitoring during invasive coronary angiography
  • Electrophysiological testing
  • Electrocardiography (ECG)

The primary focus of this role is to support the ECG and arrhythmia monitoring services, working across both hospital and community settings.

Additionally, you’ll work alongside senior healthcare scientists to assist in specialist cardiac clinics. The team has 15 healthcare science assistants, and UHNM offers a comprehensive training programme to develop skills for invasive and non-invasive cardiac investigations.


Key Responsibilities

You will be required to undertake:

  • Recording ECG data
  • Assisting in exercise tolerance and tilt table testing
  • Arrhythmia monitoring
  • Community-based ECG clinics in Stoke-on-Trent
  • Analysis and interpretation of clinical data
  • Generating technical reports

Services are delivered across multiple community locations in Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire, as well as at:

  • Royal Stoke University Hospital
  • County Hospital
  • New Community Diagnostic Centre

Travel across these settings is essential.
