An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part-time (25 hours per week) Band 3 Healthcare Support Worker to join the Specialist Children's Short Break Team at Dragon Square.
The service provides overnight short breaks for children and young people with severe learning disabilities and other associated complex needs such as behaviors of concern and complex health needs.
The role involves working as part of a team of Registered Nurses and Healthcare Support Workers in conjunction with the wider multi-agency team such as schools, social workers, consultants, specialist nurses, community nurses, and parents/carers to meet the needs of the children and young people and achieve positive outcomes for them, as well as supporting families and minimizing the risk of family breakdown.
The role of Healthcare Support Worker is very diverse and varied and involves supporting the children and young people to meet their personal hygiene needs, diet and nutrition, communication, religious, cultural needs, health and wellbeing as well as social, sensory needs, and developing daily living skills and independence. There are lots of opportunities to support the children to have fun when they are on a short break.

Role Responsibilities:
- To provide support and spend therapeutic time with an allocated group of service users.
- To promote and support the physical health, comfort, wellbeing, and recovery of service-users, and to assist them in re-establishing their place in the community, as appropriate.
- To assist Registered Professionals in assessments and care planning/implementation and evaluation of individualized care plans.
- To provide support and day-to-day supervision to junior staff members as required, demonstrating the Healthcare Support Worker role and role modeling good practice.
