Healthy Homes Surveyor
Full time (37 hours per week) and Temporary for 12 months
Starting salary will be £39,777 per annum
Expected date of interviews - Monday 3rd August 2026
We are delighted to be recruiting for our new Healthy Homes Surveyor. You will inspect properties to identify causes of damp and mould, using diagnostic tools to assess issues and recommend effective remedial actions that support safe, compliant, and healthy homes. Tasks will include detailed property inspections, producing comprehensive reports with photographic evidence, communicating findings to residents, coordinating remedial works with contractors, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, and maintaining accurate records. There is also a requirement to handle disrepair claims, monitoring progress of the claim and ensuring remedial works are actioned and completed.

Core responsibilities:
Surveying and Inspection
- Carry out detailed property inspections to identify causes of damp, mould, condensation and related defects.
- Distinguish between causes such as condensation, penetrating damp, rising damp and structural issues.
- Use diagnostic tools (e.g. moisture meters, protimeters, thermal imaging cameras) to support findings.
- Assess ventilation, insulation and heating performance.
Diagnosis and Reporting
- Produce clear, accurate and comprehensive survey reports with photographic evidence.
- Recommend appropriate remedial works providing information for remedial action plans to be shared with customers.
- Provide cost-effective and practical solutions in line with organisational standards.

Resident Engagement
- Communicate findings clearly and sensitively with customers.
- Provide advice on condensation minimisation and property use where appropriate.
- Handle potentially sensitive situations with professionalism and empathy.
Works Coordination
- Raise works orders, specifications with timescales for remedial works.
- Liaise with contractors and DLO to ensure works are completed to specification and quality standards.
- Carry out post inspections where necessary to ensure successful resolution.
Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure properties meet health, safety and housing standards, as per HHSRS, Fitness for Human Habitation and WHQS.
- Identify and escalate any risks to health.
- Contribute to compliance with organisational policies and procedures.
Data and Record Keeping
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, findings and actions.
- Support disrepair claim investigations by ensuring thorough survey reports.
- Monitor trends and recurring issues to inform asset management strategies.
- Handling disrepair claims and monitoring progress through to remedial work completions.
Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to service improvements relating to damp and mould management.
- Stay up to date with best practice, legislation and technical developments.
Person Specification:
Experience
- Experience in diagnosing and resolving damp and mould issues in residential properties.
- Experience carrying out property inspections and producing technical reports.
- Working knowledge of Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS).
- Experience in housing repairs and property maintenance.
- Experience handling disrepair or environmental health cases.

- DBS: The successful candidate will need a basic DBS check which we will arrange for you.
Work4 pilot
We are currently running pilot of working a 4-day week (4DW). This is extended until end of October 2026. The pilot will then be reviewed by our board, before making a decision to extend or be made permanent.
