About the Team and What We Do
The Hearings Support Team manages the vital administration of Fitness to Practise hearings. Their responsibilities include:
- Updating registers
- Handling event logistics
- Serving as the primary point of contact to ensure cases run efficiently and fairly
Your Role and Impact
As a Hearing Support Officer (HSO), you will:
- Work with high autonomy to organise all hearings-related activities in Edinburgh.
- Assist with administration for both physical and virtual hearings.
- Serve as the first point of contact for visitors at the office (physical hearings), including:
- Greeting and directing hearing attendees
- Providing exceptional customer service to all NMC visitors
- Resolving ad-hoc queries
- Provide exceptional customer service internally to facilitate virtual hearings
What You’ll Bring
- Demonstrated experience of delivering excellent customer service
- Strong, sensitive and effective customer care skills
- Outstanding verbal communication with the ability to interact confidently and diplomatically with internal and external stakeholders
- Experience following established standard operating procedures
- Strong written communication for accurate and concise communication
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Proven administration experience in a complex office environment
- Advanced IT skills, including:
- Using spreadsheets
- Producing attendance logs and statistics
- Ability to manage a high workload and perform under pressure while prioritising various demands
- Strong understanding of confidentiality requirements
- Initiative to perform tasks with minimal supervision
