Heating And Air Conditioning Engineer

Greengate Mechanical Services Ltd is a leading design and build contractor based in Newbury, serving the south coast, south west, London, and areas north of the M40. The company delivers commercial projects across office fitout, life sciences, healthcare, and decarbonisation sectors. Its workforce includes highly skilled, trade-registered personnel supported by a management team with over 21 years of practical industry experience. Greengate Mechanical Services holds multiple trade association memberships, including Constructionline, SafeContractor, and Gas Safe, and maintains key partnerships with Mitsubishi and Daikin. Core specialties include air conditioning, heating, domestic services, specialist ventilation, specialist gases, natural gas, and BMS.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Heating and Air Conditioning Engineer role based in Newbury. The engineer will install, commission, and maintain HVAC systems across commercial projects, including air conditioning, heating, and specialist ventilation.

  • Diagnosing faults
  • Performing planned and reactive maintenance
  • Ensuring systems operate safely, efficiently, and in line with industry standards and company procedures
  • Interpreting technical drawings
  • Coordinating with project managers and other trades
  • Completing accurate service reports
  • Adhering to health and safety regulations at all times
  • Supporting decarbonisation and energy-efficiency initiatives by recommending system improvements and upgrades

Qualifications

  • Skills in HVAC Engineering and HVAC, with strong knowledge of heating, cooling, and ventilation systems
  • Skills in HVAC Design and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) for reading and working with technical drawings and system layouts
  • Skills in Maintenance & Repair for diagnosing issues, performing routine servicing, and completing corrective work on HVAC equipment
  • Relevant trade qualifications or apprenticeships in mechanical or HVAC engineering, with appropriate gas and refrigerant handling certifications
  • Experience in commercial projects, ideally within office fitout, healthcare, life sciences, or similar environments
  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and compliance standards, including Gas Safe requirements
  • Effective communication skills, ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and a proactive approach to problem solving
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to sites within the company’s operating regions
