We are now seeking a highly skilled and adaptable Plumbing and Heating Gas Engineer to join our growing team.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Plumbing and Domestic/Commercial Gas & Heating Estimator to join our growing team. You will be responsible for providing accurate, competitive, and timely cost estimates for a variety of projects, ranging from domestic boiler replacements to complex commercial plant room refurbishments. This role is vital in ensuring our projects are financially viable and that we continue to secure high-quality contracts across Scotland.

Key Responsibilities
Tender Preparation: Prepare and analyse comprehensive cost estimates for plumbing, heating, and gas projects across residential, education, and commercial sectors. Technical Analysis: Interpret architectural drawings, blueprints, and specifications to perform accurate quantity take-offs with high precision. Site Surveys: Conduct on-site inspections to determine project scope, materials required, and potential risks and to assess project requirements, heat loss calculations, and installation challenges. Client Liaison: Present detailed quotes to clients and provide technical advice on system feasibility. Supplier Engagement: Liaise with material suppliers and subcontractors to secure the best market rates and ensure supply chain reliability. Value Engineering: Identify cost-saving alternatives and product solutions that meet client budgets without compromising quality or safety. Risk Management: Assess financial and operational risks, ensuring all bids account for current inflation and regulatory changes.

Requirements & Qualifications
Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of plumbing systems as well as domestic and commercial gas and heating systems, including natural gas and LPG. Regulatory Knowledge: Current understanding of Gas Safety Regulations, Building Regulations and Health & Safety legislation. Experience: Proven track record in mechanical estimating or a background as a qualified Gas Engineer looking to transition into a commercial role. Software Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and industry-specific estimating software. Soft Skills: Excellent numerical accuracy, negotiation skills, and the ability to work under pressure to meet tight tender deadlines. Licence: A full UK Driving Licence is essential for site visits.
