Heating Quality Assurance Engineer
Base: Tewkesbury (with travel across Bromford Flagship LiveWest geography including Lichfield, Wolverhampton and Chipping Sodbury)
At Bromford Flagship LiveWest (BFL), our purpose is simple: we invest in homes and relationships so people can thrive. We believe every customer has the right to a home that is safe, secure and warm, and we're looking for an experienced Heating Quality Assurance Engineer to help us deliver on that promise.
Supporting almost 300,000 customers across the South West, Central and East of England, BFL is the UK's largest provider of new affordable homes, delivering over 3,000 new homes every year. Alongside building homes, we're committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance and customer service.
About The Role
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Gas Safe registered heating engineer who is passionate about quality, compliance and raising standards.
Reporting to the M&E Heating Service & Repair Programme Manager, you'll play a key role in ensuring our heating service and repair activities are delivered safely, compliantly and to an exceptional standard. You'll carry out both desktop and on-site quality audits, undertake pre- and post-work inspections, and provide technical support and coaching to help drive continuous improvement across our in-house teams, contractors and partners.
Although based in Tewkesbury, this is a regional role covering our operating areas across Lichfield, Wolverhampton, Chipping Sodbury and the wider Bromford geography, so regular travel is an essential part of the position.
What You'll Be Doing
As our Heating Quality Assurance Engineer, you'll:
- Carry out quality audits and inspections of gas servicing, repairs and installation work.
- Ensure all work complies with Gas Safety legislation, industry standards and BFL policies.
- Monitor work in progress and completed works, identifying opportunities to improve quality and customer outcomes.
- Investigate technical issues and gas-related incidents, supporting corrective and preventative actions.
- Provide technical advice and guidance to operational teams, contractors and managers.
- Support the delivery of Toolbox Talks, safety briefings and technical updates.
- Produce compliance reports and analyse quality and performance data to identify trends and improvements.
- Support the development of technical competence through coaching, auditing and training.
- Maintain our high standards of health, safety, compliance and customer service.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the business to continually improve service delivery.
- Where operationally required, use your technical expertise to support heating repairs, servicing and installations during periods of increased demand.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
