HGV & PCV Driver Trainer
Road to Logistics | Suffolk (Otley) | Starting September 2026
Road to Logistics is an award-winning training provider supporting people who face barriers to employment to access sustainable careers in the logistics and transport sector.
Since 2020 we have supported over 700 learners into training and employment through high-quality skills and employability programmes, working closely with employers across logistics, warehousing and transport.
We are now launching a new Driver Training Academy in partnership with Suffolk New College, based at their rural campus in Otley, Suffolk, and are seeking an experienced and qualified HGV / PCV Driver Trainer to lead delivery from the 2026 academic year.
This is a key role within the programme. The successful candidate will be the primary Road to Logistics representative on campus, responsible for delivering training and ensuring the academy operates to a high standard.

The Role
You will deliver professional HGV and PCV driver training while overseeing the day-to-day running of the Driver Training Academy at the Otley campus.
As the on-site lead for Road to Logistics, you will ensure learners receive high-quality training, strong pastoral support and an excellent learner experience.
Many of our learners face barriers to employment, so we are looking for a trainer who combines strong technical expertise with a patient, supportive and nurturing approach.
This role requires someone who is confident working independently, maintaining training standards and representing Road to Logistics within our partnership with Suffolk New College.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver HGV and PCV driver training in line with DVSA standards
- Support learners through Category C / C+E and PCV licence training
- Oversee the day-to-day running of the Driver Training Academy
- Provide coaching and constructive feedback to help learners develop safe driving skills
- Create a supportive and encouraging learning environment
- Support learners who may face barriers to employment
- Maintain accurate training records and ensure compliance with quality and safety standards
- Act as the on-site representative for Road to Logistics within the academy partnership

Essential Skills & Experience
- Qualified and experienced HGV and/or PCV Driver Trainer
- Strong experience delivering LGV or PCV driver training
- Excellent knowledge of driver safety and DVSA standards
- Ability to work independently and manage training delivery
- Excellent communication and coaching skills
- A supportive and patient approach to working with learners
Desirable
- DVSA LGV Instructor or ADI qualification
- Experience working within training or education environments
- Experience supporting individuals facing barriers to employment
