HGV Class 1 Driver – Night Shift (Tramping)
We are seeking a professional HGV Class 1 Driver to join our small, supportive team following a team member’s retirement.
About the Role
The successful candidate will:
- Operate flatbed lorries safely and in compliance with all regulations.
- Conduct vehicle inspections and ensure roadworthiness.
- Load, secure, and unload cargo (e.g., machinery, straw, and general haulage).
- Plan routes to optimise deliveries while adhering to legal driving hours.
- Maintain accurate delivery and maintenance records.
- Assist with loading/unloading and ensure cargo security.
- Primarily transport straw to power stations, with some general haulage involved.

Key Responsibilities
- Compliance: Uphold HGV and road safety laws.
- Logistics: Optimise routes for time-efficient deliveries.
- Vehicles: Carry out pre-shift inspections and record-keeping.
- Cargo Handling: Secure and transport equipment safely.
- Teamwork: Work within a small, supportive team in a family-owned business setting.
Requirements
- Valid HGV Class 1 licence (a must).
- CPC certification (essential).
- Proven driving experience, especially with flatbed lorries (desirable but training available).
- Strong knowledge of road safety and legal driving hours.
- Reliable, honest, and committed to a night shift (tramping) schedule.

Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly rate: £13.50 – £14.50 per hour (depending on experience).
