About The Role
Join us here at Poundland & Dealz as an HGV Class 1 Driver and play a vital role in keeping our stores stocked by delivering the products our customers love, efficiently, securely, and on time across the UK.
In this role you’ll be part of our transport team, where safety, professionalism, and customer service are at the heart of everything you do. From completing vehicle checks to keep our fleet in top condition, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring legal compliance to meeting and building relationships with our store teams; you'll help keep our operation running smoothly every day.
Being on the road, you will work independently while remaining part of a supportive and experienced team, taking pride in giving excellent service at every delivery stop. To be an HGV Driver with us you will need to have a strong understanding of transport operations and current driving legislation, remain calm under pressure and be able to adapt quickly to changes to your route. Along with excellent communication skills, a can-do approach, and the flexibility to work a rotating six-week shift pattern; but most importantly you will hold a valid Class 1 (Category C+E) licence, Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
