HGV Class 2 Lorry Driver – Plant Movement
Location: Sheerness (Kent)
Salary: Competitive (depending on experience)
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced, reliable, and safety-conscious HGV Class 2 Lorry Driver to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe transportation of construction plant and machinery, including excavators, to and from customer sites across the region. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate an HGV Class 2 flatbed or beavertail vehicle in accordance with all road traffic legislation and Company policies.
- Transport construction plant and equipment, including excavators and other machinery, to customer sites.
- Load, unload, and secure plant using the appropriate securing methods, ensuring all loads comply with current load restraint regulations.
- Carry out daily vehicle safety checks and report any defects in accordance with Company procedures.
- Complete all required transport documentation, delivery notes, and vehicle defect reports accurately.
- Plan routes effectively and communicate with the Transport Office regarding delivery schedules, delays, or operational issues.
- Maintain a professional and courteous manner when dealing with customers and colleagues.
- Ensure compliance with all Company Health & Safety policies, Driver Hours Regulations, and Working Time Directive requirements.
- Keep vehicles clean, presentable, and roadworthy at all times.

Essential Requirements
- Full UK HGV Class 2 (Category C) driving licence.
- Previous experience transporting construction plant or machinery.
- Experience operating HIAB equipment is desirable (training may be provided if required).
- Good understanding of load security and safe transport practices.
- Excellent knowledge of UK road transport legislation.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible approach to working hours to meet operational requirements.

Desirable
- HIAB certificate.
- Slinger / Signaller.
- NPORS or CPCS qualification to operate 360° Excavators.
- Experience working within the construction or plant hire industry.
- Basic mechanical knowledge of construction plant.

Job Type: Permanent, Full-time
Working Hours: Various shift patterns available, Monday to Friday, with occasional overtime as required.
