HGV Class 2 Rigid Driver - Days
HGV Class 2 Rigid Driver – Peterborough Depot
At Lineage, helping to feed the world is more than just a job—it’s a purpose we live every day. As the world’s largest and most innovative provider of temperature-controlled logistics solutions, we are seeking an additional HGV Class 2 Rigid Driver at our Peterborough depot.
Working Hours & Pay
- Monday to Friday (days)
- Hours: 10-12 hour shifts with typical start times between 3am–7am
- Rate: £16.54 per hour, paid weekly
- Overtime: Any hours worked above 39 per week will be paid time and a half
About the Role
In this position, you will:
- Assist the Transport Manager to ensure efficient and smooth operations
- Conduct daily vehicle checks in accordance with the Daily Vehicle Check Sheet and Guide to Maintaining Road Worthiness
- Report any vehicle defects promptly to maintenance teams
- Carry out multi-drop deliveries in a safe and timely manner
- Perform manual and pallet pump truck work at designated drop-offs
- Ensure safe and compliant driving, adhering to tachograph laws and driver hour limits
- Verify that correct and secured goods are loaded before moving vehicles
- Check goods against customer records, obtain signatures, and confirm delivery details
- Monitor the vehicle inspection rota and notify the Transport Manager of MOT/servicing needs
- Maintain DCPC periodic training hours within the required five-year period

What We Are Looking For
- At least 12 months’ experience as a Class 2 HGV Driver
- Full and valid Class 2 licence
- Valid Driving Licence, Digi-Tacho holder, and Driver CPC card (DQC)
- Strong driving skills and knowledge of current Road Transport Regulations
- Experience driving London routes (essential)
- Excellent communication skills (critical for multi-drop coordination)
- Sharp numerical focus with an eye for accuracy
- Proven ability to operate tail-lift and pallet pump truck (PPT) daily
- Experience with multi-drop logistics
Strong preference for: candidates comfortable with warehouse-fed pallets, embossing guns, and frequent lifts/loads.
