HGV Class 2 Transit Driver
Permanent Full-Time Transit Driver – Leeds Skelton Grange
About The Role
Location: Leeds Skelton Grange
Position: Permanent, Full-Time (Guaranteed Hours)
Earnings:
- Basic: £12.65/hour
- Overtime: £15.81/hour
- OTE (On-The-Earnings): £37,133 | Based on 50-hour week (40 hours basic + 10 hours regular overtime + daily completion bonuses)

As a Transit Driver in our Leeds Skelton Grrange depot, you will ensure the seamless movement of waste containers while upholding exceptional service standards. This hands-on role demands safe driving, outstanding customer service, and impeccable vehicle upkeep—ideal for a conscientious professional who thrives in a fast-paced, team environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Service Delivery: Safely collect, exchange, and deliver waste containers between customer sites with efficiency and professionalism.
- Customer Engagement: Communicate confidently with clients on-site, maintaining a professional yet friendly demeanour.
- Compliance & Vehicle Maintenance:
- Conduct thorough pre-daily safety vehicle checks.
- Report any defects or issues immediately.
- Ensure fleet vehicles remain in excellent condition at all times.
- Administrative Tasks: Accurately complete delivery paperwork, submit daily reports, and adhere strictly to data protection (GDPR) policies.
Working Hours & Shift Pattern
- Days: Operated Monday–Friday with occasional rotating Saturdays.
- Start Times: Early commence (~05:00 AM) for a solid finish time.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Requirements:
- Hold a full, clean UK Driver’s Licence (Category B).
- Previous experience in multi-drop delivery or collection environments (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of the local Leeds area (a notable plus).
- Robust physical fitness, given the manual handling of commercial containers.
Key Skills:
- Exceptional time management and excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Outdoor work experience (a distinct merit).
Personal Mindset:
- Self-motivated, with a proactive, hands-on approach.
- Safety-conscious, with a commitment to ethical work practices.
- Flexible, customer-focused, and able to balance individual responsibility with team collaboration.
