Responsibilities
- Driving company vehicles to deliver loads to sites across the country
- Preparing the vehicle by conducting operator checks and maintenance
- Planning delivery schedules and routes with the Transport Manager
- Supervising or helping to load and unload goods
- Making sure loads are secured safely
- Following traffic reports and changing your route if necessary
- Completing delivery paperwork
- Routine maintenance such as topping up oil, tyre and brake checks before and after journeys
- Ensuring all rules on driver’s hours and working time directive are adhered to

Desirable Criteria

- Excellent driving skills (assessment will need to be passed)
- The ability to work alone and concentrate for long periods
- Experience with heavy manufacturing/precast/steel
- A good understanding of driver’s hours regulations
- A polite and professional manner
- A good understanding of safety on the road and when loading and unloading
- The ability to complete record sheets and paperwork accurately
- A reasonable level of fitness
- Be trustworthy and reliable
- Be 18 years old or over
- Have previous HGV driving experience of at least 2 years
- Good safety practices and driving habits
- Strong geographical knowledge
