HGV Driver / Loader
HGV Refuse & Recycling Driver/Loader
Location: Sudbury, CO10 2XH Salary: £34,608 per annum + excellent benefits
Working Arrangements:
- Full-time: 40 hours per week
- Working hours: Monday – Friday 6:30 AM – 3 PM, with occasional Saturday work and coverage of Bank Holidays
About the Role

As a HGV Refuse & Recycling Driver/Loader in our Suffolk team, you’ll provide a complete waste and recycling service on behalf of the residents and community in Sudbury.
With a professional, dedicated, and friendly team of Refuse Collection staff, we ensure that streets, homes, and businesses are kept clean, safe, and tidy, while providing exceptional customer service to all community members we serve.
Your Responsibilities
You’ll be entrusted with the following duties:
- Route management: Set off on a pre-planned route as the driver, coordinating waste and recycling collection from residential homes and commercial properties alongside a team of loaders.
- Public representation: Act as the public face of Serco’s Environmental Services team within the community.
- Vehicle safety: Conduct vehicle safety checks and ensure your truck is well-maintained and ready for work.
Job Requirements
You’ll be a great fit for this role if you:
- Hold a valid HGV Class C driving licence (we can accept C1 licences with Driver CPC).
- Are hard-working and physically fit, as the role requires significant mobility and strength.
- Bring enthusiasm, friendliness, and a "big smile" – we want a great team player!
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to meeting targets and going "the extra mile" to support your team.
