Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site HGV Lorry Mechanic role based in Midmar. The mechanic will carry out routine servicing, inspections, diagnostics, and repair work on HGVs and associated plant vehicles to ensure safe and reliable operation.

The role involves maintaining accurate service records, working to manufacturer and company standards, and collaborating with drivers and operations staff to minimize downtime. The mechanic is expected to follow all health and safety procedures, keep the workshop organized, and support occasional emergency call-outs or breakdown repairs as required.
Qualifications
- Strong HGV mechanical skills, including diagnostics, repairs, and routine servicing of lorries and heavy plant.
- Experience with braking systems, suspension, hydraulics, and basic electrical fault-finding on commercial vehicles.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, service schedules, and maintenance documentation.
- Familiarity with workshop tools, equipment, and safe working practices in a heavy haulage or plant environment.
- Relevant mechanical qualification (e.g., NVQ/SVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent) or substantial proven experience.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with drivers, supervisors, and other workshop staff.
- Full UK driving license; HGV license and experience with earthworks or demolition fleets are advantageous.
- Commitment to health and safety, reliability, and maintaining high standards of workmanship.
