Sapphire Vehicle Services Ltd is a specialist in commercial vehicle repairs and maintenance, providing a comprehensive "one stop shop" solution for its customers. Operating from strategically located sites across the country, the company supports a wide range of commercial vehicles. Services include all-makes servicing and repairs, vehicle diagnostics, trailer EBS diagnostics, and tail lift maintenance. Sapphire Vehicle Services also offers LOLER inspections and weight testing, helping customers maintain safety, compliance, and reliability across their fleets.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site HGV Technician role based in Upper Tankersley. The HGV Technician will carry out scheduled servicing, routine maintenance, and mechanical repairs on a variety of heavy goods vehicles and trailers. Day-to-day tasks include diagnosing faults using appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment, performing electrical and hydraulic system checks, and completing trailer EBS and tail lift inspections and repairs. The role involves conducting LOLER-related checks and weight testing where required, ensuring all work meets safety, quality, and legal standards. The technician will document work completed, maintain accurate service records, and collaborate with colleagues and service advisors to prioritize workloads and minimize vehicle downtime.

  • Strong experience in HGV servicing, mechanical repairs, and general commercial vehicle maintenance.
  • Ability to use diagnostic tools and software for vehicle systems, including trailer EBS and electrical fault-finding.
  • Knowledge of tail lift maintenance, LOLER requirements, and safe weight testing procedures.
  • Relevant technical qualification (e.g., NVQ/City & Guilds in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent) or substantial proven experience in a similar role.
  • Good understanding of health, safety, and compliance standards within commercial vehicle workshops.
  • Ability to work efficiently on-site, manage workloads, and maintain high attention to detail in documentation and inspections.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with a customer-focused and solution-oriented approach.
  • Full, valid driving license; HGV license is advantageous but not essential.
