HGV Technician – Amersham

Salary: Up to £21.93 per hour (dependent on experience) + 50p bonus per hour for a valid HGV Licence

Location: Amersham

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday Overtime: Available as and when required, including weekends and Bank Holidays. Pay multiplied by:

  • Weekdays (x 1.5)
  • Saturday (x 1.5)
  • Sundays & Bank Holidays (x 2.0)

Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain the Veolia fleet, third-party vehicles, and plant in line with manufacturer and industry standards
  • Diagnose vehicle faults using hydraulic, electric, and pneumatic equipment
  • Carry out general workshops tasks as directed by management
  • Ensure strict Health & Safety compliance, including managing your own and others’ safety
  • Complete all necessary paperwork, timesheets, and HGV MOT-related tasks
  • Conduct regular MOT inspections and roadside repairs as required

Requirements

Essential

  • City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in HGV Engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Problem-solving under pressure
  • HGV Licence (vocational entitlement attracts a £0.50/h bonus)
  • Ability to flex across a wide range of tasks

Desirable

  • IRTEC Licence (available training supported)
  • Experience with waste/RCV or similar curbside vehicles
  • Electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic engineering knowledge
  • Welding or fabrication skills
  • Counterbalance forklift licence
