Location: Scunthorpe
Hourly Rate: £19.31
Shift Pattern:
- WK1: 06:00–14:30 (Mon–Fri)
- WK2: 10:00–18:30 (Mon–Fri)
- WK3: 10:00–18:30 (Mon–Fri) + 06:00–14:30 (Sat)
About the Role
Schenk UK, an innovative national tanker haulage business, is seeking an HGV Technician to join their team based in Scunthorpe. This role is integral to maintaining operational excellence across tanker and HGV fleets, involving:
- Carrying out workshop maintenance, including:
- Servicing
- Defect repairs
- MOT preparations
- Breakdowns and inspections
If you possess Level 3 Vehicle Technician qualifications, hands-on experience servicing/repairing operational tankers, and a strong understanding of MOT standards and legal compliance, Schenk invites you to apply for a rewarding career.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform technical inspections, diagnostics, and basic repairs
- Conduct pre-eyes and post-journey checks to ensure vehicle safety and legality
- Oversee MOT test preparations and bid according to regulations
- Troubleshoot and resolve breakdowns and faults on site or in the workshop
- Keep detailed records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections
- Collaborate with HGV drivers and team members to ensure vehicular readiness

Skills & Competencies
Technical Knowledge
- Clear understanding of vehicle roadworthiness and MOT legislation
- Practical experience in HGV and trailer maintenance/repair
Soft Skills & Work Ethic
- Health and Safety awareness with proactive compliance in a high-pressure environment
- Determination, tenacity, and quality-focused mindset
- Ability to work under tight deadlines in a cost- and customer-driven workplace
- Strong organisation with self-motivation to achieve results

Requirements
Essential
✔ Level 3 Vehicle Technician qualification
Preferred Experience
🔹 Maintenance/repair of tankers and heavy goods vehicles 🔹 LGV (lorry driver) licence (not mandatory, but advantageous) 🔹 ADR certification (desired but not essential)
