Position Overview
Have you seen our “Big Red Trucks”? With over 100 years of history, Biffa’s iconic red fleet shrugs off waste! We’re on a mission to change how people think about waste—and we need skilled HGV Technicians to keep our brilliant machines running smoothly.
You’ll perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and health-safety compliance work—ensuring our fleet (light vans to 44t articulated rigs) stays roadworthy, efficient, and fit for purpose. Whether you’re a PSV Mechanic, Heavy Goods Technician, or HGV professional, Biffa transforms customers into colleagues, and we love upskilling.
About the Role
- Key Responsibilities:
- Support vehicle and waste-handling equipment maintenance to meet DVSA health & safety laws and Biffa’s operator licence commitments.
- Perform scheduled inspections and required repairs across a diverse fleet.
- Provide proactive condition monitoring, preventative diagnostics, and necessary fixes.
- May assist with ANPR system/tow/accident management, fleet communications, and customer liaisons.
- Contribute to a culture of safety excellence, teaching colleagues and shop-floor workers to prioritise operational safety.

Who Are We Looking For?

Preferred Experience for skilled candidates:
- lifetime events w/c,V/PSV Mechanic, Heavy Goods/LGV HGV Mechanic,or HGV Apprenticeship (full Level 3)
- BTEC Full levels 3 HGV/PSV / City & Guilds / NVQ qualification or commercial-class experience.

Essential Skills & Compliance:
- Current car/van driving licence (HGV licence desirable but championed).
- Attend pre-joined IRTEC qualification (a bonus).

- Core pay: £20.59/hour
- Shift allowance on top
- £10/week tool allowance for accessories, collets, jacks, lamps, etc.

- Warrington: 6:00–15:30 (earlies)
- Mon–Fri evenings & Saturdays (calls): 06:00–15:00 or 07:00–16:00 (overtime available)
