Hire Fitter Driver – Forest Hill (Lewisham)
As a Hire Fitter Driver at Travis Perkins Forest Hill (Lewisham), you will play a vital role in supporting our Hire Manager to ensure compliance with all mechanical, electrical processes, and procedures relating to repairing and testing tools and equipment to the Travis Perkins Tool Hire standard.
You’ll join a three-person Hire team, including a dedicated driver responsible for delivering larger stock, operating independently while being part of a wider branch team of 20. The mid-sized Forest Hill branch is exploring expansion plans, aiming to create a fresh, modern space to enhance its Tool Hire operations. You’ll help drive and integrate Hire into the broader Travis Perkins branch by ensuring our Hire inventory remains well-maintained, compliant, and ready for use.
What will I be doing?
You will:
- Ensure all tools and hire equipment are tested, safe for use, and readily available for hire
- Support your Hire Manager in managing all aspects of the department and business
- Deliver and collect a wide variety of tools & equipment to our customers
- Act as a pivotal customer contact, using your product knowledge to:
- Nurture strong customer relationships
- Understand their needs
- Provide expert advice
- Recommend alternatives to maximise profitable sales of goods
- Adhere strictly to all Tool Hire processes and procedures, including audits and inspections, as safety is paramount

What experience do you need?
- A clean HGV licence is essential
- Previous experience in the Plant and Hire Industry is advantageous, but not essential
- A suitable alternative would be a good understanding of electrical, petrol, and diesel equipment
- Transferable skills are preferred, especially:
- Strong customer service experience
- Sales background
- A full clean UK driving licence is required
