HGV Trailer Fitter/Technician - Mon-Fri - Days

Job Description

Owens Group is a fast-developing, multi-site organisation, with a large diverse customer base, making this an exciting opportunity.

Owens are looking to recruit an enthusiastic & conscientious HGV Trailer Technician to support our Carrington operation working a Monday-Friday day shift pattern - to be discussed at interview.

Shifts: Monday to Friday

Hours: 50 hours per week inclusive of lunch breaks

Salary: £18.00ph

Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Trailer Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge and experience in equipment repair, with a focus on trailers. This role requires a hands-on approach to diagnosing issues, performing repairs, and ensuring that all trailers are in optimal working condition. The successful applicant will be adept at using various tools and equipment while maintaining a high standard of customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair trailers dealing with mechanical breakdowns and damage to restore vehicles to required performance in order to minimise/or avoid unnecessary delays.
  • Provide technical knowledge/advice/skill to other team members ensuring the best decisions are made.
  • Carry out weekly inspections of vehicles
  • Travel around local sites
  • Carry out preventative planned maintenance/repairs
  • Carry out all other duties as directed by the Company
  • Availability to cover call outs
  • Read and interpret schematics to troubleshoot issues effectively.
  • Use hand tools and power tools to perform repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Weld components as necessary to ensure structural integrity.
  • Assemble parts and systems according to specifications.
  • Operate forklifts safely to move trailers and equipment within the workshop.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area, adhering to safety protocols at all times.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding their trailer needs.

Experience

  • Proven experience in mechanical repair, preferably with trailers or similar equipment.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems related to trailer functionality.
  • Familiarity with using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.
  • Experience operating forklifts is advantageous but not essential; training may be provided.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills, demonstrating an ability to provide quality customer service.
