Driver Newcastle & Sunderland are currently recruiting a class 2 mixer driver for an immediate start at their national client based in Gateshead.
This is an excellent opportunity for ongoing work lasting until at least the end of October with the view of the contract potentially being extended.
- Experience with operating a LGV2 cement mixers would be advantageous but not essential.
- A full 2 weeks training will be provided to ensure the candidate is comfortable within the role and is able to operate the controls with confidence.
- Due to the nature of the role, the successful candidate will need to be physically fit as manual handling will for a big part of the job.
- When arriving at the delivery destinations, fresh cement will be offloaded into cement tubs on site, but it’s vital that old cured cement is removed from the tubs prior to unloading.
- The driver will also need to install an extension shoot to the rear of the vehicle to support the cement run off.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
