We have an exciting opportunity for a HIAB Operator / Lorry Mounted Crane Driver to join one of Scotland’s leading Remote Access location specialists, working throughout the UK to support and deliver critical contract and logistics solutions.
HGV Class 1 / Class 2 HIAB Driver Role overview Full-time, permanent HGV driver role operating lorry-mounted cranes to lift, load, move and deliver various cabins, containers, plant and abnormal loads across the UK with a focus on rural Scotland and the islands and operating in these areas. The role sits within the senior lorry loader team and suits an experienced, professional crane lifting operator with strong customer service focus.
Key responsibilities Safely operate lorry-mounted cranes to lift, load, move and offload: cabins, containers, trackway panels, abnormal, wide, unbalanced and awkward loads, pillars, poles, metal structures and plant Carry out hook lifting operations and plant moving/operating as required Plan routes and drive primarily a lorry loader mounted vehicle, with trailers attached where required, ensuring safe efficient nationwide deliveries and collections. As required drive a 4x4 or tracked mounted lorry loader, often in remote and isolated areas Complete vehicle and crane pre-use checks, routine operator maintenance and basic defect reporting in line with company procedures and legislation. Secure loads correctly using appropriate securing devices in line with best practice. Load and unload cargoes utilising the correct lifting accessories, ensuring safe working loads are not exceeded and all relevant lifting plans and instructions are followed. Maintain accurate paperwork, delivery notes, timesheets and any digital records as required. Represent the company professionally on customer sites, liaising with clients, site supervisors and other contractors to deliver a safe, efficient lifting service. Working pattern and conditions Early starts are routine, with some late finishes, occasional weekends and occasional nights out as required by workload. Nights out paid with cab overnight allowance; flexibility to sleep in the cab when required is essential. Full company uniform provided; corporate dress and PPE must be worn and kept in good condition. 28 days holiday including public holidays, with additional training and development opportunities Skills and experience Essential: Extensive, recent professional experience operating lorry-mounted cranes with hook. Lifting. Loading, installing or removing complex lifts (abnormal, wide and unbalanced loads). Proven HGV driving experience of similar vehicles. Strong understanding of UK road networks and good geographical knowledge of the UK. Good knowledge of rural Scotland and the associated road network and timings encountered on these road networks. Sound knowledge of health and safety, lifting operations and load securing. Excellent tachograph knowledge and compliance. Good literacy, attention to detail and ability to complete paperwork accurately. Personable, well presented and focused on delivering excellent customer service.

Desirable: Additional lifting qualifications such as Slinger signaller, or lift supervisor (CPCS, ALLMI or NPORS) Working within remote environments, supporting infrastructure and telecoms projects. Experience of power steer and extending trailers. Experience with heavy lorry loader cranes. Experience of 4x4 and tracked vehicles

Qualifications and certifications Valid HGV Class 1 (Category CE) licence, Class 2 (category C) will be considered. Full Driver CPC. Valid, in-date lorry loader crane certification (CPCS, NPORS (with hologram) or ALLMI)
Practical Test : This is be a two stage process for interviews 1.Face to Face or teams call interview 2.Successful candidates will be ask to attend a driving and equipment test
Package Competitive salary commensurate with experience, with higher basic and additional pay available for extra skills, qualifications and extensive crane knowledge. Full uniform, cab overnights allowance, enhanced rates for weekends/unsocial hours and regular training updates/courses
