High Intensity Therapist
Clinical/Counselling Psychologist or CBT Therapist – NHS Sutton Talking Therapies (WTT)
About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Clinical/Counselling Psychologist or CBT Therapist to join our dedicated team. This exciting role involves delivering Step 3 diagnostic assessments and evidence-based CBT interventions, both in one-to-one and group settings.
There are also opportunities to gain experience in clinical supervision—you’ll support Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners, Low Intensity, and High Intensity Trainees, with necessary training provided. You may also develop specialist interests in areas such as:
- Long-term health conditions
- Learning disabilities
- Perinatal mental health
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Work
- Provide specialist psychology services for anxiety and depression under NHS Talking Therapies for Anxiety and Depression.
- Conduct psychological assessments and interventions in line with clinical guidelines.
- Formulate and deliver evidence-based CBT therapies within specified NHS frameworks.
- Offer advice and consultation to team colleagues (incl. trainee High Intensity Therapists, Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners).
- Support implementation of the Improving Access (IA) agenda in primary care settings.

Supervision & Training Support
- Provide clinical supervision to trainees and colleagues, adhering to professional standards.
- Participate in weekly individual clinical supervision from experienced Band 8a Clinical/Counselling Psychologists or CBT Therapists.
- Engage in monthly clinical training sessions and quarterly CBT workshops led by specialists.
Scheduling & Flexibility
The role operates within:
- Monday–Thursday: 9 AM – 8 PM
- Friday: 9 AM – 5 PM
- Minimum one evening per week in line with service needs.
Flexible arrangements may be possible through the trust’s flexible working scheme.
