Job title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
Term time only
Hours: 8:00am – 3:30pm
Term: Permanent position
Hourly rate: Scale 5 point 13-17: £15:06 - £16:08
Required: September 2026
We are seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic and highly motivated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our supportive team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced practitioner who is passionate about raising standards and helping children to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Regularly supervise whole classes during short-term teacher absences or PPA cover, ensuring continuity of learning, good order and appropriate behaviour.
- Plan and deliver learning activities to individuals, small groups and, on a regular agreed basis, whole classes during teacher absence.
- Promote inclusion, independence, engagement and high standards of behaviour.
- Establish productive working relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations.
- Support pupils’ social, emotional and behavioural development.
- Provide feedback to pupils on attainment and progress.

You're a perfect fit if you have:
- HLTA status or Level 4 qualification (or higher) relevant to teaching and learning.
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above).
- Substantial experience working in an educational setting.
- Experience of planning and delivering learning activities.
- Experience of supervising whole classes and leading learning in teacher absence.
- Experience monitoring, assessing and reporting on pupil progress.
