High Performance Engineer - C++ Network

The Role

We have an exciting new opportunity for a High Performance Engineer - C++ Network to join Robert Walters as a Consultant.

As a Consultant, you will benefit from permanent employment with Robert Walters and will be deployed on an assignment within our clients' organisations, in return we will provide you with the opportunity to develop your skills with ongoing training and professional support.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to join a global business, providing top-tier service to our blue chip clients.

What You'll Do

  • Design, develop and support high-quality C++ libraries in collaboration with global engineering teams.
  • Enhance networking and communications platform capabilities to support application development and performance.
  • Integrate platform libraries with build systems, packaging infrastructure and development environments.
  • Identify technology gaps and implement practical solutions to improve developer productivity, application performance and reliability.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot and enhance existing C++ libraries and platform components to ensure stability and efficiency.
  • Conduct technical investigations, experiments and proof of concept activities to evaluate and implement new technologies and solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional development teams to gather requirements, drive library adoption and promote C++ engineering best practice.

What You Bring

  • Strong commercial experience developing applications using C++.
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, TLS/mTLS, connection management and load balancing.
  • Experience with Linux development, troubleshooting and debugging in production environments.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and technical debugging skills.
  • Knowledge of distributed systems, performance optimisation and platform engineering.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional development teams and support internal stakeholders.
