Role Description
The Higher Education Module Author is a contracted (8hrs per week for 16 weeks), remote role based in the UK. This role involves writing, 100% on-line asynchronous higher education modules in Special and Inclusive Education that align with institutional standards and learner needs. The author will create clear, engaging learning materials, including lecture content, assessments, and supporting resources, ensuring content is pedagogically sound and suitable for online and blended delivery. The role also requires:
- Monitoring developments in the relevant discipline
- Incorporating new research and industry trends into course content
- Contributing to continuous improvement of the curriculum
Qualifications
- Qualified at the Doctoral Level (PhD, EdD) in an appropriate discipline or education-related field.
- Demonstrated experience in higher education curriculum design and module authorship, including learning outcomes, assessments, and instructional materials.
- Strong academic writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and accessible content for diverse learners.
- Knowledge of online and blended learning principles, including the use of educational technology and learning management systems.
- Ability to conduct thorough research, synthesize complex information, and incorporate current scholarship and industry practice into teaching materials.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working alongside faculty, instructional designers, and quality assurance teams.
- Strong organisational skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and maintain consistent standards across modules.
- Experience with UK higher education frameworks and standards; familiarity with accreditation requirements is an advantage.
- Commitment to inclusive, learner-centred education and the ability to design materials that support diverse backgrounds and needs.
