We are looking for a hard working, dynamic and caring individual to join our friendly and patient focused team.
About the Role
We currently have a vacancy for a higher level Imaging Department Assistant based within the busy CT department at Royal Preston Hospital. You will be required to work alongside all members of the multi-disciplinary CT team and will be expected to demonstrate flexibility in your attitude to work.
The CT department at Royal Preston Hospital has 4 CT scanners; one in the ED CT department, 2 in the Neuro CT department and a mobile CT scanner based at Preston Healthport. The role will involve rotation through all the scanners. You will be required to assist the Radiographers or Radiologists with all CT procedures and will be expected to demonstrate excellent patient care and communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Radiographers or Radiologists with all CT procedures
- Demonstrate excellent patient care and communication skills
- Support the patient throughout their CT journey
- Prepare the patients prior to their scan
- Cannulate the patient and prepare the contrast (xray dye)
- Monitor the patient during specialist procedures
- Provide emotional support and necessary aftercare
- Assist the Radiographer and the multidisciplinary team to manage and improve the workflow
- Perform administrative tasks
- Assist with stock ordering and daily cleaning of the department

Requirements
- NVQ 3 in a health related subject is a requirement of the post, however we would be happy to offer the job as a training post, subject to completion of the Level 3 apprenticeship in Diagnostic Imaging within 18 months of starting in post.
- Venepuncture and cannulation training will be provided to the successful candidate if required.
