Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Fowey River Academy

Fowey River Academy is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, skilled and committed Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our friendly and dedicated team.

About the Role

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school. In partnership with teachers, the SENCO and other professionals, you will:

  • Plan and deliver learning activities for individuals, groups, and whole classes to help pupils make excellent progress across the curriculum
  • Assess and monitor learning, provide high-quality feedback to teachers, and adapt activities to meet the needs of all learners, including those with additional needs
  • Support the development of pupils’ confidence, independence and wellbeing, promote positive behaviour, and contribute to an inclusive learning environment where every child can succeed
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and external agencies to ensure pupils receive the necessary support to flourish

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds HLTA status or has equivalent experience within a school setting
  • Has experience in planning and delivering high-quality learning activities across the secondary age range
  • Has a strong understanding of assessment, pupil progress and inclusive practice, including support for pupils with SEND
  • Builds positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and families, promoting high expectations and excellent behaviour
  • Is an effective communicator, works well as part of a team, and is committed to professional development
  • Shares our passion for ensuring every child feels supported, challenged, and inspired to realise their full potential
