Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Grade 4
About the Role
Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) Grade 4 Location: Meadow Green Primary School Hours: 19.5 (term-time only, across 3 days) Term: Permanent Salary: £14,842 – £15,600 per annum
Meadow Green Primary School is seeking an energetic, dedicated, and caring individual to join our staff as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA). This role will provide an exciting opportunity to work closely with teachers, senior leaders, and across all year groups, delivering PPA cover while contributing to planning, teaching, and pupil progress.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills, adaptability, and a commitment to safeguarding, with the ability to teach whole classes, adjust lessons, and provide verbal/written feedback in line with school policy.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide PPA cover across all year groups, ensuring learning support for classrooms during teacher absence or planning/personal time.
- Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons, adapting teaching methods to meet pupils’ diverse needs and abilities.
- Work 1:1, in small groups, or as whole-class support, covering short and long term as required by staffing needs.
- Collaborate closely with teachers to prepare lessons, evaluate lesson effectiveness, and respond to pupil progress and behaviour.
- Provide written and verbal feedback to teachers and pupils following established school policies.
- Motivate and support students to achieve academic and personal growth.
- Commit to ongoing professional development and uphold the school’s safeguarding, behaviour, and equality policies.

A successful applicant will be:
✅ Strong team player, independent and flexible with the ability to adapt plans infiltrateeresponsiveness. ✅ Exceptionally skilled practitioner with the ability to reflect on/adjust teaching approaches. ✅ Hardworking, reliable, and passionate about early years and primary education. ✅ Experienced in primary schooling, ideally as a teacher or qualified HLTA. ✅ Comfortable with flexible teaching rotations, including potential class cover for sick days or training.
While no formal qualification is strictly necessary, prior experience with whole-class teaching or training in early years education would be useful.
