Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Lift Hall Road Academy, Hull
Salary: £24,517 - £26,635 (or £32,597 - £35,412 incl. FTE+ benefits) | Contract: Permanent Location: Lift Hall Road, Hull, HU6 8PP, United Kingdom Hours: 32.5 per week, 39 weeks per year (term time +5 weeks) Closing Date: 13th July 2026 Start Date: September 2026
About the Role
At Lift Hall Road, we’re seeking passionate, proactive, and reliable Higher Level Teaching Assistants to support our teaching team and drive forward learning outcomes for pupils.
As an HLTA, you’ll:
- Support pupils and help them make meaningful progress
- Deliver engaging small group interventions
- Lead lessons (both planned and unplanned, when required)
- Collaborate with teachers on lesson planning and provide impactful feedback
- Act as a role model for excellent classroom practice
We are happy to support your completion of HLTA training, provided you already hold a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) and have relevant experience as a teaching assistant or trainee teacher.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with teachers to support pupil progression
- Lead small group sessions, including targeted interventions
- Cover lessons when needed (both in advance and on short notice)
- Assist in curriculum delivery and provide focused feedback for improvement
- Act as a trusted partner in meeting students’ learning needs
- Contribute to a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment

Requirements
We’re looking for a candidate who:
✔️ Holds a recognised HLTA qualification or a Level 3 Teaching Assistant (TA) qualification (minimum essential standard) ✔️ Has substantial experience supporting children’s learning in a school setting ✔️ Is able to deliver interventions independently and cover lessons with confidence ✔️ Has a strong understanding of supporting SATs preparation ✔️ Is highly flexible, proactive, and a collaborative team player ✔️ Demonstrates resilience, positivity, and a clear commitment to inclusion
