Higher Level Teaching Assistant
Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Rossendale School
Rossendale School are recruiting for a Versatile, Resilient and Committed Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our education team!
We are looking for someone to assist children across all key stages, support pupil behaviour, and establish strong relationships to help pupils thrive. This diverse role will require coverage across lessons and adaptability in practice.
Key Role Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting children with their work and behavioural needs
- Acting as a role model while addressing individual pupils’ unique requirements
- Delivering engaging, high-quality lessons within the school framework
- Championing inclusion and ensuring equitable opportunities for all
- Building positive relationships with pupils, families, colleagues, and external professionals
- Maintaining a calm, supportive environment through consistent behaviour strategies
- Monitoring progress and providing meaningful, constructive feedback
- Adapting learning to meet diverse needs and learning styles
- Contributing to school initiatives, training, and team-building

About Rossendale School
Rossendale School specialises in educating autistic pupils from 7–18 years old, all of whom have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

What You’ll Bring to the Role
- A QCF/NVQ Level 3 qualification in Teaching and Learning (or equivalent)
- Experience supporting pupils with Autism, bringing patience, empathy, and understanding
- Confidence to deliver motivating, practical lessons that engage and inspire
- Flexibility, adaptability, and enthusiasm for working with young people
- A positive, collaborative attitude that enhances team dynamics
- Strong communication skills for building a motivating, encouraging atmosphere
